Medicare Help for New Jersey Seniors

I'm based in Edison and work with Medicare beneficiaries across New Jersey — by phone, at your pace, with no pressure to decide on the spot.

Working with someone local matters more in Medicare than people expect. Plan availability isn't national — it's set county by county. The Medicare Advantage plans offered in Middlesex County aren't the same as those in Bergen, Camden, or Cape May. Provider networks differ too: a plan that includes your cardiologist in one county may not in the next one over.

That's the difference between a national call center reading from a script and someone who knows the New Jersey landscape.

Two New Jersey Programs Most Seniors Never Hear About

New Jersey runs two prescription assistance programs that exist nowhere else. Many people who qualify have no idea they do — and no one at a national call center is going to mention them.

PAAD — Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled

If you qualify, PAAD reduces your prescription costs to roughly $5 for generics and $7 for brand-name drugs, and helps with your Part D premium.

  • You must be 65 or older, or 18+ and receiving Social Security disability
  • You must be a New Jersey resident
  • You must be enrolled in a Medicare Part D plan or a Medicare Advantage plan that includes drug coverage

Senior Gold Prescription Discount Program

For those whose income sits above the PAAD limit, Senior Gold covers 50% of your out-of-pocket prescription costs after a small copayment.

For 2026, the income limits for these programs are approximately $54,943 for a single person and $62,390 for a married couple — higher than most people assume, which is exactly why so many eligible seniors never apply.

Both programs are applied for through NJSave, and both require Part D or Medicare Advantage drug coverage first. When we review your plan, I'll tell you whether you're likely to qualify — it costs nothing to find out, and it can change your annual drug costs substantially.

What I Help New Jersey Clients With

  • Comparing Medicare Advantage plans available in your specific county
  • Medicare Supplement (Medigap) options and how they differ from Advantage
  • Part D prescription drug plans — matching your actual medication list, not a generic recommendation
  • Dental, vision, and hearing coverage options
  • Annual plan reviews — plans change every year, and so do your medications
  • PAAD and Senior Gold eligibility screening

Frequently Asked Questions — New Jersey Medicare

Do Medicare plans differ by county in New Jersey?

Yes. Medicare Advantage and Part D plan availability, pricing, and provider networks are set at the county level. A plan available in Middlesex County may not be offered in Ocean or Sussex County, and the same plan can have different networks in different counties. This is why a local review matters.

What is PAAD in New Jersey?

PAAD is New Jersey's Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled program. For eligible residents, it reduces prescription copays to about $5 for generic and $7 for brand-name drugs and assists with Part D premiums. You must be enrolled in Medicare Part D or a Medicare Advantage plan with drug coverage to participate.

What is the income limit for PAAD and Senior Gold in 2026?

For 2026, the limits are approximately $54,943 for a single applicant and $62,390 for a married couple. Senior Gold serves those whose income exceeds the PAAD threshold, covering 50% of out-of-pocket prescription costs after a copayment.

Do you charge for Medicare help?

No. As an independent broker, I'm compensated by the insurance carriers, not by you. Your premium is the same whether you enroll through me, directly with the carrier, or through anyone else. What you get by working with me is someone who compares options across carriers and stays available after enrollment.

Do I have to meet in person?

No. Most of my clients prefer to handle everything by phone, on their own schedule, from their kitchen table. I serve clients throughout New Jersey this way.
